I've Got a Confession...

I have a confession to make....a deep dark demonstrator confession. Are you ready for this? I hope you're sitting down...

I have not felt very much like stamping this summer.

What?!? Yup, you read that right. I just haven't been "in the mood" to sit down and create. I had major creative block going on, and I just couldn't bring myself to spend much time in my craft room. I kept wondering what happened to my creative mojo? Would I ever get it back?

Yes! I did get it back!

A couple weeks ago, completely out of the blue, I felt like stamping again. I found myself excited to go home and head up to my craft room. I was looking forward to a relaxing evening of creative therapy, and I started looking online for inspiration. Before I knew it, my creative block was gone!

I am sharing this confession with you because I know there are times when you just can't find those creative juices. Maybe the last thing you want to do at all is stamp. And you know what? That's ok! We have ALL been there. I stepped back from it for a bit...and my stamps were there waiting for me patiently. If you've been feeling this way, you are not alone! And I promise you that your creativity will be rolling along again in no time!

In the meantime, I've got a super cute, vintage-y country card to share with you. Maybe it will inspire you to go to your stamping place and dust the cobwebs out of your mind's creative corner.

This card came together quickly. I actually have used this layout in other cards, so going back to it was quick and easy. This is another tip for getting over a creative block: look through other cards you've made and CASE your own designs!

The card base here is in Crumb Cake, which is one of my favorite colors. I used the large flowers stamp from the Wood Words stamp set on that strip of Whisper White across the middle of the card. Can you see that Night of Navy peeking out around the edges of that strip? I thought that really made those flowers pop! To get just that tiny bit of border, I cut that layer 1/8" larger than the one on top of it. I do that quite often, actually! I love that little bit of color just peeking out.

The stars are stamped in Early Espresso and Night of Navy. I love the combination of those two colors. For the rooster, I also used Early Espresso, but I stamped off on a scrap paper before stamping onto my stitched oval piece. I love how stamping off creates a softer color.

For the burlap ribbon, I loosely folded it over on itself and secured with a staple. I love how the staples make a homemade card look a bit "shabby chic". I tied some linen thread around the burlap ribbon at the end to gather it and add the perfect finishing touch.

If you don't have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I would be so thrilled to earn your business! I love inspiring you with my projects, and all of my customers get an invitation to my private Facebook VIP page where I share exclusive projects with you, we play games, and you can win prizes!
